1556 - Jack Lennon in 'The Odd Couple'

John Lennon blah blah, we worship him still
He could sing and write good catchphrase lyrics
But McCartney is almost the devil
No airports named after him, and less myths
I feel sorry for Paul. John's politics
Such as they were, take precedence over
Paul's musical genius, yes, mere music's
Not as sexy, it seems, as camera-
Loving publicity stunts; a poser
And egomaniac; while the Fab Four filled
Theatres and stadiums, the harmonies clicked
But given time and space, Lennon declared
Declaimed, condemned, abstained, rejected, till
The Fab Four were no more, with Paul eclipsed

  1. Yes, I was by where JL was shot today. Had a lovely latte in the Corner Cafe. Then went to the Guggenheim. Great museum.
Paul's not the devil compared to his second wife, but he does do some weird and creepy things - like that jaunty middle break in the Live and Let Die theme.

  2. Paul should do more of that kind of stuff - that half-song half-instrumental, though odd, is one of his most enduringly popular solo works. It includes the quite amusing ungrammatical line, 'And in this ever-changing world in which we live in.' Class.
I'm envious of all this sight-seeing - and musical activity! Stop having such a good time! (Don't mean it of course!!)
