1776 - Birth of a nation 2

In 1776 the States
Were no longer the British Colonies
Thomas Paine’s Common Sense had upped the stakes
And George the Third’s men were in a tight squeeze
He brought in the Hessians, Germany’s
Professional troops for hire, strengthen his hand
But the sheer number of Yanks weakened his
Efforts, and united across their land
The Declaration was thought of and planned
Read out on the Fourth of July to great
Approval - the Americans were pleased
Because of the Brits they were now ex-fans
The American Revolution paved
The way for the French one in a few years
