1678 - Clarence Mill, Bollington

A lovely sunny day, but I forgot
To take my mobile phone when I left home
Worried I'd lost it - what an idiot!
But it was on my sofa all the time
No pictures then of today's jaunt may come
Unless Josie can forward those on hers
Where did we go? We went to Bollington
By Macclesfield Canal, where the mills rise
Like giant shoe-boxes, and huge chimneys
Point to God or Mammon. Now they are flats
And good ones too I expect, though it's some
Way from Manchester. All slaves to their cars
Are those living there, even if they've got
Only to get to Macc, these driving drones
