1677 - Nothing but blue skies

This beautiful spring sunshine carries on
It seems a routine well established now
That April skies are blue, the sun is warm
But summer clouds are certain to follow
All through July and August, and we know
There'll be reports of reservoirs run dry
Come summer (when the clouds bring us down low)
'Not enough rain in spring' will be the cry
Yet there'll be some flooding, ironically
At least an ice age hasn't just begun
Something the early Britons faced somehow
Before we got separated by sea
From Europe when that ice melted and ran
Over our shores eight thousand years ago
