My knee’s been sore for days now, since Sunday
I banged it hard on the radiator
When I knew Pearl was staying on Wednesday…
I was cleaning the surfaces and floor

Last night’s Weber, Rachmaninov and Brahms -
The highlight, Brahms’ Symphony number 4 -
Went well, and then a curry in Rusholme’s
Al Mughal restaurant. Today the calm
In the flat was shattered, as we both played
For 3 hours, keys and electric guitar
From library sheet music I borrowed for
This very purpose. Pearl watched me read poems
For the first time, at the Museum Café
Then chips with Andy. Fun day, to be sure!
