Cuts in the Army, oh what a scandal!
At least that's what the news is trying to claim
How can we insult soldiers who have all
Done so well in Afghanistan? They're maimed
Or worse. We've seen parades of their remains
Their families are proud, rightly, but for more
Of this expensive carnage, when the strain
On finances is so great, would be poor
Policy. Meanwhile, on the hallowed floor
Of the Commons, George Osborne and Ed Balls
Have been vying to call each other names
Like drunk louts, they accuse and then withdraw
Brandishing fists. The Shard, that very tall
London tower, is open to acclaim
