I felt cold and ill last night, lying in bed
A hot water bottle would have been nice
Shivering limbs, congested chest and head
Too uncomfortable for sleep to entice
By afternoon, at work, had to advise
Callers and emailers though I felt drained
Nevertheless, put in the hours, no lies
Even ate a big pot of soup, but went
Homewards, stopping to look in Sports Direct
Bought three new tops and a zip-up jacket
For warmer weather at a lowly price
Under 30 quid, not excessive spend
My comedy ticket will be wasted
But I don't want to go out - feel like ice!
