Watched the first live political debate
Between the prospective prime ministers
Cameron didn’t score, may have to wait
For the next chance; Brown fought off the doubters
And Clegg did the best, looking at cameras
The public seemed to think Brown did badly
But what were the motives of the watchers?
Are they just for change, somewhat naively
Because we must admit the tendency
Is that those not in power we tend to fete
The Liberal Democrats may not lead us
And so to stand above may seem easy
After the scandals and the public hate
For MPs with their fiddled expenses
