2403 - Patterns

A good night out, at Gulliver's in town
Saw some old mates, and Tom George, the songsmith
I drank maybe five pints, they all went down
Very well, and I sang some songs myself
'High Over Liverpool' and 'Patterns' - with
As much aplomb as I could muster - well
These songs are old, 'Patterns' dates from pre-Smiths
It was weird to sing it now, but, hell
Why not, and I knew the words like a bell
Chiming through decades, personal renown
That era is now somewhat of a myth
A time when the Hacienda was a spell
Of indie magic, before dance. I found
It good to see Tom and Jeff, by God's teeth
