2409 - It takes a lot to laugh

Woke at four-thirty, adjusting to spring
I guess, read two hours Dylan's 'Chronicles'
Once I knew that sleep wasn't returning
And then went to work, suppressing hackles
And getting on with it - even chuckles
Were commonplace - that's really all there is
Amazingly, when I got home, found all's
Still going on, and my mind composes
Two new songs, admitting influences
Of Dylan's style in cadence's sounding
Listening to 'Basement Tapes' on my travels
And 'Another Side' - recorded as is
Among wine and friends on just one evening
Some songs played nevermore, just mere baubles
