There was an old Roman town called Orange
Arausio was its original name
This original Orange in Provence
(Southern France) became a duchy and came
To be linked to another house of fame
The German House of Nassau (in the Rhine-
Land Palatinate) by the usual game
Of judicious marriage. Aged eleven,
The Orange-Nassau lands passed to William
The Silent, son of William the Rich
And this young German noble soon became
Soldier and office-holder, Netherlands
His home from now on, fighting the Spanish
And for the cause of religious freedom
Indeed, everything, everyone is essentially six degrees far/near to/from each other.
